iPhone vs. Panera Bread’s Free WiFi

Upon visiting two different Panera Breads in and around Chattanooga I was disappointed to find that I could not connect to their free WiFi with my iPhone. I would open Safari, type in a url and wait, expecting to be redirected to the Panera Terms and Conditions page. But Safari could never find the requested server.

After a browse through the Apple iPhone Support forum it turns out that this problem doesn’t occur at all Paneras. The solution I found based on the advice in this thread is really simple. Instead of typing in a domain name or url just enter an IP address, eg. 4.2.2.2 (don’t bother digging through your Settings as described in that thread). The expected redirect should then work. Just agree to Panera’s terms and you should be up and running.
