Even as a hobbyist programmer I find the Gambit system limiting. I keep thinking of more advanced logic I want to apply!

I love the game. I just wish I had more options.

I think they struck a good balance between functionality and simplicity. I would love to be able to group or negate conditions but that would significantly increase the complexity of the interface.

It would have been nice if you could maintain and share multiple sets of gambits across the characters though. That way when one character dies during an intense mark you could switch in a new character and copy over the gambits from the fallen party member they are replacing. Also, roaming gambits (even by region) and boss battle gambits differ significantly. The ten minute gambit cleanup after a difficult boss fight can be a chore (I can’t be running around casting slow on every enemy we encounter or esunaga every time a single party member gets disabled).
