She picks up the paper and sits down to read
And on the front page she’s looking at me
Well, imagine her surprise when she reads all the lies
That we arranged and sang all last night

It’s not me, it’s not you, it’s just the issues in our head
Or lies in mine, what lies in mine I’ll keep until I’m dead
And when it hits the newsstand then I’ll finally understand
It’s not me, it’s not you

She turns on the TV and kicks off her shoes
Curls up on the couch and changes to the news
While between commercial breaks every station blares my face
From PBS to Station 68

It’s not me, it’s not you, it’s just the issues in our head
Or lies in mine, what lies in mine I’ll keep until I’m dead
And when it hits the newsstand then I’ll finally understand
It’s not me, it’s not you

She needs it to be quiet sometimes—she hates it when I’m loud
He needs it to be quiet sometimes—he hates it when I’m loud
I need some peace and quiet sometimes—‘cause I’m so fucking loud
I think it’s time for quiet…

She climbs into the car and hits the street
She’s driving the wrong way when she runs into me yeah
Imagine my surprise at the thin double lines
We’re always crossing to get to the other side

It’s not me, it’s not you, it’s just the issues in our head
Or lies in mine, what lies in mine I’ll keep until I’m dead
And when it hits the newsstand then I’ll finally understand
It’s not me, it’s not you.

This is a really good song! Really good lyrics and great composition. I’m hearing a full band here, but you do a great job of establishing a groove with the guitar.

Don’t be afraid to really scream when you sing “loud”, it will just increase the dramatic impact of the nice set-up you’ve created for yourself.

I don’t think you’d have much trouble finding a bass player and drummer who would play with you - the songs are there, just waiting for some backup and arrangement to really flesh them out.

Hey, you know, this song reminds me a bit of that old “Funny Bone Tickle Eye” song by the WLF. Just at the beginning and the end. Anyway, it’s a pretty good song and deserves more than one comment. Thanks for putting it online.
