Asleep at the wheel

Working into the morning last night, I practically fell asleep at the keyboard. A couple people emailed me about a number of PHP notices popping up on the site today. After a bit of debugging on ShortStat v1.0 I went to sleep without realizing that I had left error_reporting(E_ALL) on. I’ve commented that line out for now and everything looks like it’s back to normal.

Sounds to me like someone needs to finally release it to the public and let them fidle with the smaller details :)

Ah, error_reporting(E_ALL)! The programmer’s best friend and worst enemy.

Mmm.. Falling asleep at the computer. Must say, I’ve done that more times than I’d like to admit. Sort of embarassing, actually. I supose though, that’s just what I’ll have to deal with if I continue to be horribly sleep deprived…

I was surprised to find your beta in my referrers. Looking good Shaun. I like the additional features - some of which I had been working on adding as well. Eager for the release!

Can’t wait to get my hands on it… Is this the right place to ask a question? hmmm could give it a try :) I installed your last version, and it was an instant hit here ;), but when I tried it for another site, all went well, got it working : but I don;’t see any hits being logged… hmmm that’s strange! So I tought to install it again, but that doesn’t change a thing, cause all the tables are already made in the database..and well it doesn’t work that way :) Is there a solution to make a clean install again ? I can’t get into the db of my site, (like i knew how ….; ) ) Or shall I just wait for the new version…

Who can help me out, and Ivar ofcourse ; )

Don’t PHP warnings imply that something needs fixing? I’ve never had a PHP warning that wasn’t really an error of some sort…

I’ve done that a few too many times.

This usually happens to people who are dedicated to what they are doing. A practical human error.. So don’t worry about it that much.

CSS is awesome. This site is cool as hell, i wish i could learn style sheets, have any good sites/books for learning? Right on, looks crazy clean, even w/ every design for an example you’ve developed. Great work, keep it up!

My first visit to your site was from the 2005.bloggies.com site. To be honest, I didn’t vote for your design. I do, however, like it a lot. You didn’t get the vote simply because the most impressive features only worked in Firefox (of which I’m a strong supporter). That, and I was easily impressed by Karen Cheng’s organic style. As an interesting side-note, I aggregated your site and not hers. That said, I can certainly relate to sloppy bedtime code. I’ve had many an error from holding down the ‘H’ key, which is conveniently located adjacent my laptop’s mouse nipple.

To err is human. To err in a sleepy haze at the keyboard is strictly Geek.
— I said that
